Uzbekistan Issues a New 20,000 So’m Banknote with 3 mm BREEZE™

The Central Bank of Uzbekistan has issued a new banknote denomination, the 20,000 So’m banknote. The notes are produced by the Uzbekistan banknote printing works Davlat Belgisi and are secured by BREEZE, a 3 mm micro-optic security thread from Crane Currency.

The new banknotes were issued for circulation on June 14, 2021. The artistic theme of the upgraded notes is the “Great Silk Road” and the history of the ancient city of Bukhara and the Republic of Karakalpakstan.

BREEZE is a micro-optic security thread especially suitable for high-demand banknotes. It provides central banks with an alternative to older security features such as colorshift threads that today experience simulations and counterfeiting on an industry scale.

The bank has previously issued three banknotes with RAPID® micro-optic security threads – the latest one was the 100,000 So’m note in February 2019.
