US Bureau of Engraving & Printing Visits Crane Currency Malta

Crane Currency recently hosted two visitors from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) at our Malta facility. After many years of efforts, the BEP was finally successful in getting approval to build a new print facility in Beltsville, MD. This new facility will replace the 100+ year old facility located in the center of Washington DC. The BEP was interested in our experience in laying out the design of the plant, the construction process, the equipment selection process and our actual experience to date. The two visitors were Len Olijar, Director of the BEP, and Ron Voelker, Deputy Associate Director of Manufacturing for the Fort Worth, Texas facility.

The visit spanned two days, involving conference room presentations, discussions and many hours spent on the floor walking the process and speaking with operators. There was fantastic dialog over the two days with a lengthy list of follow-up items. Len and Ron expressed their gratitude to the entire Malta team for their openness and their willingness to share experiences.
