Burundi Completes Upgrade of Full Banknote Series with RAPID® Micro-Optic Security
La Banque de la République du Burundi has completed the upgrade of its entire banknote series – the 500, 1000, 2000, 5000 and 10000 francs – by significantly improving the security with the addition of RAPID® micro-optic thread from Crane Currency. The micro-optic feature displays fluid and highly visible movement behind the letters ‘BRB’ and the head of a cow, a respected symbol of wellness and beauty recognized throughout Burundi.
With only a slight tilt of the banknote, the bands in the RAPID feature move up and down behind the static letters ‘BRB’ as the face of the cow shimmers. With a general color change of the 5000 and 10,000 just put into circulation, the new upgraded series is now complete. All denominations of the upgraded series are printed on ENDURANCE®, a durable 100% cotton banknote paper with soil and moisture resistance provided by AST®.
